The Story of “Bare”

The Story of “Bare”

“Biograpi Living” has introduced its fifth development, the residential complex “Bare,” just steps from the Presidential Palace at 3 Niko Lomouri Street.

A Place with Memory

The name and branding of “Bare” are closely tied to Avlabari’s history. Its purpose is to carry forward tradition and remind residents of the memory of the place.

In the 18th century, all of Avlabari was surrounded by strong defensive walls. The word “Bare” itself means “wall” - a boundary, a line that marked the outer district.

The project’s story stretches from Avlabari’s iconic balconies down to the rocky riverbank of Rike. In fact, “Rike” refers to the stony banks, which in 19th-century Tbilisi served as both a marketplace and a hub of workshops. It was also the site of public events, such as the Epiphany celebration, when people would plunge into the Mtkvari River in mid-winter.

Although Avlabari was technically considered a suburb, lying on the left bank of the river, it was very much the heart of Old Tbilisi. Within its streets stood the great city wall, vibrant bazaars, Metekhi Bridge, the climb toward the church, and the daily life of a busy neighborhood.

A Language of Symbols

Every design choice in the “Bare” identity has symbolic weight. The main motifs of the logo include:

  • The Wall: recalling the 18th-century fortifications and the roots of the word “Bare.”

  • The Balcony Railing: a nod to Queen Darejan’s palace, symbolizing the heritage of Avlabari’s balconies.

  • The Wine Jug: representing the ancient “wine road,” as Kakhetian wine once entered Tbilisi through Avlabari Square.

Architectural Symbolism

The architecture of “Bare” reflects a harmony of past and present. Its facade materials not only provide aesthetic value but also preserve authenticity and local identity. A striking design feature is the corner created by two walls, mirroring the dome of Sameba Cathedral: a powerful symbol of place.

The building draws on elements that connect history with contemporary comfort:

  • Natural granite: strength and protection

  • Natural brick: warmth, visual comfort, urban character

  • Facade details: modern forms inspired by history

  • Balcony design: a continuation of Avlabari’s decorative tradition

A Modern Home with Deep Roots

The residential complex offers comfortable apartments, parking, and greenery, meeting today’s urban needs while grounding people in the memory of the neighborhood.

“Bare” is designed to do more than provide a home. It gives residents modern comfort while also connecting them to the passage of time and the roots of Tbilisi’s past.

Every symbol, every detail was chosen deliberately. With “Bare,” Biograpi Living is creating a place built on re-imagined history, where memory and modernity live side by side.
