"Hisni" - The Brand Story

Hisni is the fourth and Tbilisi’s most ambitious urban project by the development company “Biograpi Living.” This multifunctional residential complex is being built in one of the city’s oldest districts, Isani, on Queen Ketevan Avenue.
Urban Memory
Tbilisi has always been a meeting point of cultures: Asia and Europe, Islam and Christianity, and many others crossed paths here. Hisni's architectural design brings this layered identity to life.
The project’s name reflects both its location and its identity. In Arabic, hisni, the root of Isani, means “fortress.” Historical references to this area date back to the 11th century. During the Arab period, the old settlement was fortified with walls and a moat to defend against invaders. Because of this resilience, conquerors called it “Hisni.” Later, the area became known as Metekhi. This riverside location housed the royal palace, a court church, and Metekhi Cathedral.

Isani remained a dynamic part of Tbilisi’s urban landscape during the Soviet era. In the 1960s, it became home to the city’s trolleybus park. What began as a transit hub eventually evolved into a recreation space. Here, Georgia’s first locally produced transport wagon was created, turning this area into a symbol of innovation.
Each Biograpi Living project is deeply rooted in its surroundings. Hisni taps into the city’s urban memory, tracing the invisible lines that link the past to the present.
Telling a Story Through Symbols
Hisni’s visual identity is built around three core symbols combined in its typographic logo. These symbols represent cultural synthesis, green spaces, and the trolleybus park.

Cultural synthesis: This symbol draws on traditional Georgian ornamentation to express the idea of connection and integration, echoing the multicultural nature of the Middle Ages.
Greenery: A nod to the harmony of people and nature. The complex features landscaped courtyards and dedicated recreational spaces.
Trolleybus park: A reference to the recent past when the area served as a key transportation hub and a gathering place for the community.
Color as Identity
The Hisni branding uses two core colors: green and clay. Green reflects the project’s gardens and open spaces, highlighting an urban environment that grows in harmony with nature. On the other hand, Clay calls to mind desert fortresses and hints at the residential complex as a future oasis in the heart of Isani.

Final Thoughts
Like all Biograpi Living projects, Hisni is designed as a self-sustaining ecosystem rooted in a historically significant place. Guided by respect for the past and a responsibility to the future, Biograpi Living is helping revive the urban spirit of the entire city.
