Chantani: Branding and Location History
Development company “Biograpi Living” continues to build a modern city. Our new project, Chantani, will bring another fascinating story to life. This time, the journey to the past begins in Mushthaid Garden. In today's blog, we will share the history of the location of Biograpi Living's latest project and the motifs that are brought to life in its visual identity.
Chantani’s Visual Identity
Each symbol used in Chantani's branding has its own history and significance. They are carefully selected, with all of them related to the project's location. Through these symbols, the past, present, and future are united. One of the main sources of inspiration for the multifunctional complex is the love story of Niko Pirosmani. In the interior of Chantani, especially in the lobby and common spaces, you will see reflections of Pirosmani's most beautiful paintings. Moreover, the names of Chantani's apartments are inspired by the artist's works. Names like "Pirosmani," "Deer," "Fisherman," "Black Lion," "Yellow Lion," and "Marguerite" are all featured in the list of apartment names in Chantani.
Symbols found on the Chantani logo:
- Rose
- Miniature train
- Dinamo Arena
Pirosmani’s Roses
According to legend, the actress Marguerite, Niko Pirosmani's only love, performed at Cafe Chantani on the stage of Mushthaid Garden. Even today, this beautiful love story is told in Tbilisi. It is said that one morning, a long caravan of carts appeared in the city. Nikala, having sold his small shop, used the money to buy all the flowers available for sale in the town. With nine carts filled with flowers, he went to see the woman who had set the stage ablaze with her mesmerising dance during her tour. Sadly, Nikala's love was doomed and unrequited. One day, when Nikala went to see Marguerite, he found a card from the actress, who had gone to Paris, bidding him farewell forever. This sad yet beautiful love story is symbolised by the rose in the logo of Chantani, bringing this poignant tale to life.

Miniature Train
In 1935, the famous children's railway was opened in Mushthaid Garden, marking a unique historical event. It was the world's first children's railway. The train on the Chantani logo commemorates this significant milestone.

Dinamo Arena
The logo also features the symbol of Tbilisi Dinamo's home field, Boris Paichadze Stadium. Dinamo Arena was the first sports facility in Georgia and was renowned for its scale and architectural excellence. Its construction was driven by the growing popularity and success of Dinamo Tbilisi.

Chantani - the Story of Mushthaid Garden Brought to Life
Chantani is located opposite Mushthaid Garden, and its name is closely tied to this historical place. The Singer Cafe Chantani was one of the park's notable attractions. You will also find the Silk Museum and the stadium named after Boris Paichadze in the area surrounding the project. The Silk Museum building, founded in 1887, was initially intended as the main station of the Caucasus silk-making complex, housing the museum itself. As you know, Dinamo Arena is the largest stadium in Georgia. Each of these features adds depth and interest to Chantani's narrative.
Mushthaid Garden, planted in the 1830s, is the oldest garden in Tbilisi. Its establishment is connected to Mir-Fatah-Agha, a prominent religious figure from Persia. Fatah-Agha was a Mushthaid, a religious leader of the Shiites in Tabriz, Iran. The garden's name, Mushthaid, originates from his religious title. Mushthaid Garden bordered the German colonies, known for their orchards and bourgeois, European-style homes. For years, this area attracted a community seeking and embracing European culture. The garden hosted various entertainments and retreats, including a restaurant, buffet, pavilion, and summer theatre. It was a venue for concerts and exhibitions. Notably, in 1882, the first hot air balloon in Transcaucasia took off from Mushthaid Garden. Each of these historical elements enriches the narrative of Chantani, connecting past and present in a vibrant tapestry of culture and history.
Chantani is the latest project offered by Biograpi, exploring the history of another Tbilisi district, Didube. Like other projects, Chantani is distinguished by its unique identity, which is shaped by the history and branding of its location. Chantani will leave a lasting mark on the development of the modern city.
